Unemployment unchanged at 5.8%

The Unemployment Rate remained unchanged in December 2013, ending at 5.8%, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. The number of employed citizens has decreased from 22,600 million to 11.630, attributed to a decrease in full time employments, dropping by 31,600 to 8.068 million. Part time employment increased by 9,000 to 3.562 million. The participation rate fell to 64.6%.

NSW – 5.8 %, down by 0.1% from the previous month of November 2013.

VIC – 6.2%, unchanged

QLD – 5.9%, up by 0.2%

SA – 6.7 %, down by 0.1%

WA – 4.7%, up by 0.4%

TAS – 7.7%, unchanged
